The Expendables: Review

The Expendables - Directed by Sylvester Stallone. Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis.

Rating: 5/5

Today, I saw the Expendables. It was by far the best action movie that I have seen this summer. The plot line was interesting. It is about a group of mercenaries who are hired by Bruce Willis, who is working for the C.I.A., to go to a little island in the Gulf and overthrow a Dictator and get rid of a rogue C.I.A. operative who is terrorizing the island. At first, the group does not want to take the job, calling it a "suicide mission." But Stallone falls in love with a girl on the island he hardly knows which is part of the story that does not make sense. Oh, and it just so happens that the girl is the Dictator's daughter.
There is non-stop action, lots of explosions and fight sequences that will blow your mind. The previews lead one to believe that the movie is centered around the whole group, but it is mostly centered Stallone, Statham and Li, with Crews, Couture and Rourke sprinkled in throughout the movie. Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger have small cameos that get the movie off to a great start. Stallone has had one too many face-lifts, he looks like a plastic doll, and the way he runs will make you laugh. But, in all seriousness, go see this movie. It is well done, violent at times. It will mostly appeal to guys, girls not so much.
